DESIGNING AND CONDUCTING FORMATIVE EVALUATIONS
Why?
Because in order to determine weaknesses in the instruction.What are these WEAKNESSES?
*Teachers Trainers are not good predictors of the effectiveness of instructional content
*Instructional Theory is not a perfect science
*Few instructional products are ever evaluated with learners.
*Designer cant see the forest for the trees.

FORMATIVE EVALUATION HAS SIX STAGES
1.Design review
2.Expert review
3.One to one
4.Small group
5.Field trials
6.Ongoing evaluation

1.DESIGN REVIEWS (we should ask these questions)
Does the instructional goal match the problem identified in the needs assesment?
Does the learner and the environemental analysis match the audience?
Does the task analysis include all the prerequisite skillls?
Are the test items are reliable and valid and do y-they match the objectives?


2.EXPERT REVIEW
Is the cıntent accurate and up-to-date?
Does it present a consistent perspective?
Are examples practice exercises and feedback reallistic and accurate?
Is the pedagogy consistent with current instructional theory?
Is the instruction appropriate to the audience?

3.ONE-ON-ONE REVIEW
Is the message clear?
What is the impact on;
Learner attitudes,achievement of objectives and goals.
Feasibility of training

4.SMALL GROUP REVIEW
Look fort he effects caused by the changes made in the one-on –pne review
Identify any remaining learning problems

5.FIELD TRIALS
Look for effects in changes made in small group
Can the instruction be used in the context in which it was included

6.ONGOING EVALUATION

Project size
Life span of content
Audiences change
ONE-TO-ONE
Small group try outs
Field trials

LEARNER EVALUATION
D learners understand the instruction?
Do they know what to do during the practice and the tests?
Can they interpret graphics in the text?Can they read all the material?
How much time does it take?

As I read from this chapter formative evaluation is critical,completing as many stages as possible is important, and dont depend on SME’ s opinion evrytime, and don’t forget to document your evaluation.

A HISTORY OF INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY ‘’In order to be Professional in any field you should be knowledgeable about that fields history’’ I started my reading with believing this sentences. Where our field has come from brief introduction to some of the current trends that affects our field. With examining instructional design procedures and the use of media for instructional purposes have formed the core of the field of instructional design and in this chapter the events are noted from United States. Every physical means of instructional delivery from the live instructor to the textbook to the computer and so on would be classified as instructional medium. WEEK 5 CONSTRUCTIVISM AND COGNITIVSM

CONSTRUCTIVISM Constructivism suggests that the learner is much more actively involved in a joint enterprise with the teacher of creating new meanings. The theory of constructivism suggests that the learners construct knowledge out of their experiences. As far as I read from the chapter I can sum up that; Learning is an active process in which learner uses sensory input and constructs meaning out of it. People learn to learn as they learn. The crucial action of constructing meaning is mental. Learning is a social activity and it takes time to learn. Motivation is a key component in learning. There are two types of Constructivism; Cognitive Constructivism;  emphasizes on individual internal construction of knowledge.(based on Piaget’s theory) Social Constructivism ; Knowledge exits in a social context and is initially shared with others instead of being represented solely in the mind of an individual.
