CHAPTER 6
Writing Performance
Objectives
What is Instructional
Objective?
It is an intent communicated
by a statement of what the learner is to be like when he has succesfully
completed a learning experience.
It guides the teacher when
selecting and organizing instructioanal activities and resources and provides
framework for devising ways to evaluate student learning.
Instructional Objectives:
Provide a focus for
instruction guidelenes for learning provide targets for formative and summative
assesments.Convey instructioanl intent to others.Provide evaluation of
instruction.
CATEGORIES OF OBJECTIVES
1.COGNITIVE
This domain includes
objectives related to information or knowledge naming, solving, predicting and other intellectual aspects of
learning.
2.PSYCHOMOTOR DOMAIN
It encompasses the skills
requiring the use and coordination of skeletal muscles as in the physical
activities of performing,manipulating and constructing.
3.AFFECTIVE DOMAIN
It involves objectives
concerning attitides appreciations values and emotions such as enjoying
conserving and respecting.
INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES
COMPONENTS
Instructional onjectives;
State what the student will
be able to do (OBSEVABLE BEHAVIOUR)
With the conditions under
which they should able to demonstrate (CONDITION)
Under the expected degree of
proficiency (CRITERION)
PERFORMANCE
Everything you want the
learner to have while they are performing should contain a verb that will
communicate the skill the learner will perform.
CONDITION
States what the learners will
be able to do after the instruction,it should contain a verb that will
communicate the skill the learner will perform.
Example; Given a list of ten
elements identify those elements that are metals.
CRITERIA
The criteria to be used to
evaluate learners performance
As I read and searched about
this unit's topic;
We should;
Start the process of
determining instructional objectives by reviewing the subject area standards
for the grade level we are teaching.
identfy the standard our
lesson is focused upon,if the standard involves learning complex concept
generilazation or skill complete a task analysis
The statement of an objective
should reflect an appropriate level in the cognitive affective or psychomotor
domain.
After reading this chapter I
deeply understand the importance of writing objectives.
I know that it guides the
remaining steps in planning a lesson, no lesson can be effective without
effective instructional objectives. It is like a trip without destination you
don’t know where you are going, you have no means to determine how to get
there.
